We provide emergency orthodontics in Brentwood for patients who face sudden problems with braces or aligners and need prompt attention. When a wire pokes your cheek, a bracket comes loose, or pain spikes after an adjustment, quick care limits damage and gets you back to normal. At WOW Orthodontics, Dr. Wendy Oakes leads a team that prioritizes timely fixes and clear explanations so you feel calmer and safer fast.
What is emergency orthodontics? It covers urgent repairs and pain control for active orthodontic treatment. We address broken wires, loose brackets, lost aligner trays, and acute oral pain tied to orthodontic work. Our goal is to stop discomfort, protect tooth movement, and prevent bigger problems later. You’ll find plain answers about causes, short-term remedies you can do at home, and a plan for a same-week visit when needed.
Call us when a problem causes pain, bleeding, or affects eating or speaking. Minor pokes may be handled temporarily with orthodontic wax; a cut that won’t stop bleeding needs immediate care. If an appliance breaks and moves teeth, prompt repair prevents delays in treatment. For families, these moments feel urgent — we make time for school schedules and work hours when possible. If you’re unsure, a quick phone consult can tell you whether to come in.
Your visit focuses on fast relief and a practical fix. We’ll examine the problem, remove or trim offending parts, and secure any loose hardware. If an aligner is lost, we may fit a replacement or give instructions to hold movement until a new tray arrives. After treatment, we explain at-home care and signs that warrant a return visit.
These benefits reflect how WOW Orthodontics approaches urgent care: friendly staff, organized scheduling, and follow-up to confirm healing.
Q: What can I do if a wire is poking my cheek?
A: Cover the wire with orthodontic wax or a clean cotton ball and call us for an appointment. You may also try trimming a protruding wire with clean nail clippers if comfortable.
Q: Do I need an appointment for a lost aligner?
A: Call our office. We’ll tell you whether to switch to the prior tray, move to the next tray, or come in for a replacement.
Q: Can you fix broken braces the same day?
A: Often yes. We will schedule a visit as soon as we can.
Q: Who will I see?
A: Dr. Wendy Oakes oversees emergency visits at WOW Orthodontics. You can meet the team ahead of time on our staff page.
